Alicia Keys is set to produce a biopic on legendary dancer/choreographer, Alvin Ailey.

Deadline reports that Fox Searchlight closed the deal to develop the film on the iconic choreographer, whose work has had an indelible impact on dance, arts and culture through his Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

The film will be produced by Alicia Keys and Susan Lewis through Keys' company, AK Worldwide. Judy Kinberg, Rachel Cohen and Jana Edelbaum from iDeal Partners will also be producers for the film.

The project is fully supported by the Ailey organization, who controls the rights to his choreography, and Fox Searchlight will be working closely with Artistic Director Robert Battle and Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison on the film. The rights to Jennifer Dunning’s biography on Ailey, Alvin Ailey: A Life In Dance have also been secured for the making of the film.

“We are thrilled to be working with these incredible partners to bring to the screen the amazing journey and revolutionary choreography of Alvin Ailey, whose life and legacy profoundly impacted people of all backgrounds around the world," Battle said of the biopic.

As of now, there's no word on a release date for the film.
