Andra Day and Common Drop ‘Stand Up for Something’ Video [WATCH]

Andra Day and Common have teamed up to deliver a powerful message in their new video for “Stand Up for Something.” The song was created in connection with the Chadwick Boseman flick, Marshall. Boseman plays a young Thurgood Marshall the Reggie Hudlin-directed movie, which is in theaters now.

Penned by Grammy Award-winning artists Diane Warren and Common, the single features Day’s piercing vocals that will make your spine tingle, with Com delivering his insightful rhymes. Day says the song was inspired by Thurgood Marshall's incredible journey through the judicial system in the civil rights era.

"It was an incredible honor to not only be asked to record the lead single, but also appear in the movie," she said (via Singersroom). "I’ve always dreamed of working with Diane and Common, and the experience was better than I could have ever imagined. This is such an important project. I’m thankful to be a part of it."

We are thankful too. For the visual, Day and Common don all-black outfits as they deliver their socially-conscious message of standing up for the truth no matter the circumstances. In between their performance, we see snippets of scenes from the movie.
