A car driving in Mecosta County, Michigan, slides on some ice and kills man and his horse.

According to WOOD, the accident took place southeast of Big Rapids around 9:30 a.m. Sunday on 8 Mile Road near 170th Avenue.

State police were notified of a horse running loose in the area. A Michigan State trooper arrived and caught the horse then turned it over to the 85-year-old man who owns the horse.

The owner of the horse began to walk the horse back to his home when a driver lost control of her vehicle and hit both the man and the horse then she wound up hitting the trooper's police car also.

85-year-old Robert Johnston of Stanwood and his horse were both killed.

The trooper was also hauled into the hospital but suffered no serious injuries and was later released.

 

The 43-year-old woman who lost control of her vehicle was from Mount Pleasant and did not have any injuries in the crash.

The Michigan State Police are still investigating the crash.
