The shocking death of rock singer Chris Cornell is hitting the music community, fans, loved ones and members of the rap game hard as the news of his passing has been confirmed by authorities.

Following the reports the 52-year-old hanged himself, artists and industry heads have been reacting to Cornell's death via social media, including the likes of Timbaland and Anderson .Paak.

"Rest in power to one of my favorite voices in rock. #ChrisCornell" .Paak tweeted with a photo of the singer, who was known for lauded tracks like "Black Hole Sun."

If you recall, Timbo worked with the rock star on his Scream album back in 2009, as the project's producer. Although fans didn't praise the LP, Timbaland has spoken highly of his time working in the studio with a veteran like Cornell. The singer even explained that regardless of the reception Scream received, he was proud of the final product.

"I’m thrilled with the album that I made. I think it’s really exciting, I have listened to it as much or more than any album I have ever made," he told Alternativeaddiction.com at the time.

According to the Associated Press, the Soundgarden frontman was reportedly found dead in a Detroit hotel room by police on Wednesday evening (May 17). His death has been ruled a suicide by medical examiners.

Hours before he was pronounced dead, Cornell actually performed with Soundgarden in Detroit, where he was reportedly in high spirits and even mentioned "the next place we play" to the audience.
