Common unveiled his new single to the world via a morning show. The Chicago rapper appeared on Windy City Live, which airs on his hometown's ABC affiliate, and performed an acapella version of "Black America Again." The song is slated to be the lead single for Common's eleventh solo album.

The track features Common rhyming about the racial injustice in America. If some of the bars sound familiar, it's probably because you heard them in a freestyle Common did during an appearance Sway in the Morning just a few months ago. This new version features a few tweaks but contains much of the same content.

"The new plantation, mass incarceration/Instead of educate, they'd rather convict the kids/As dirty as the water in Flint the system is/Is it a felony or a misdemeanor/Maria Sharapova making more than Serena/It took Viola Davis to say this/The roles of the help and the gangstas is really all they gave us," Common raps.

The title of "Black America Again" may hint at the song being a sequel to Common's 2014 track "Made in Black America" featuring Ab-Soul. The No I.D. produced song was released in the lead-up to Common's 2014 album Nobody's Smiling yet did not end up appearing on the LP.

"Black America Again" serving as the first single for Common's new album is one of the few details known about the project. The only other track anyone's heard from the untitled LP is a record called "Home." No I.D. previewed that record during his stint as a guest DJ on the Soulection Radio Show.
