Back in 2014, Miguel posted a video on Instagram of himself and DJ Premier listening to a rough version of their newest collaboration, which at the time was called "Damned." The song however missed the cut for the singer's fantastic 2015 sophomore album, Wildheart.

Today (Feb. 21), Miguel and Preemo release the song, now titled "2 Lovin U." The upbeat single features excellent Premier production and smooth vocals from Miguel. The song will surely get major spins. "2 Lovin U" is the first release from Premier’s new imprint, TTT (To The Top) and is now available worldwide.

"When the gavel hit the stand/I'm damned of loving you/Two palm trees in the sand/I'm damned of loving you now/We set fire to these skies for our love and I'd do it all again/I'm damned of loving you," Miguel sings.

“The snippet you heard on Miguel’s Instagram, mine is the original,” DJ Premier explains in a press release. "Miguel and I were vibing at a session and just really seeing what we could come up with. What we came up with was a dope, but rough version of what you hear today. Miguel and I had deadlines and we never got around to finishing it. We both really believed in this version of the track and we both felt very strongly that it needed to come out and be released as a single. Miguel and I approached the label about releasing it and everyone was on-board.”

In an interview with MTV in 2015, Miguel explained why the record didn't make Wildheart. "It's never about one song," he said. "Every piece of the puzzle supports the picture, so if one of the pieces doesn't fit and doesn't capture the emotion and sonic representation I'm hearing, unfortunately I just have to save it for something else."

Miguel has been relatively quiet since the release of Wildheart, only dropping a handful of new tracks last year including "Come Through and Chill," "How Many" and "Cadillac."

For Preem, he's working on Faith Evans' upcoming album.
