To make driving to and from work even more fun those that live or pass through the area of Alpine Avenue in Walker, the eastbound lanes of I-96 will close for a week beginning Wednesday, April 18.

According to WOOD TV, the Michigan Department of Transportation have put together a large-scale project that increase several different closure configurations throughout the summer between Alpine and Plainfield avenues.

For some reason, this plan makes this blogger think of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

The recommended detour provided by MDOT will direct drivers to southbound US-131 to eastbound I-196 to reconnect with eastbound I-96.

With this being the busiest stretch of US-131 in the state, this detour will likely bring long delays in drive time along US-131 to eastbound I-196.

According to MDOT, roughly 50,000 vehicles travel on I-96 between Alpine Avenue and US-131 every single day. While more than 55,000 vehicles travel the area between US-131 and Plainfield Avenue.
