The late legend Eazy-E was born 54 years ago today (Sept. 7). His daughter ReeMarkable is celebrating the date with recreations of some of the rapper's most iconic portraits.

The singer, who directed and styled the shoot, places herself in several reimagined archival images, including Ricky Powell's 1993 fisheye shot of Eazy rolling blunts at the midtown Hilton Hotel in New York. Lorenzo Smith photographed ReeMarkable, whose makeup was done by Tunchyy Marie.

ReeMarkable, who was a toddler when the N.W.A. spitter and Ruthless Record co-founder died of complications from AIDS in 1995, explained the tribute's inspiration on Instagram, where she published the photos.

"I was a baby when you left this world , I have no memories, but I also don’t have any pain from your return to heaven. I am honored to be your daughter," she wrote. "Today is a day for celebration as you would have came upon your 54th birthday . So here’s my gift to you . A shoot dedicated to simply, you ."

Another one of Eazy's daughters, Ebie Wright, began her own project honoring the rapper's legacy in 2016 by launching a Kickstarter to fund a documentary proposing to explore his death, which has long been surrounded by controversy.

Most recently, Ruthless signee Frost suggested in a 2015 documentary that Eazy was given "tainted needles" while receiving acupuncture in a plot launched by an unnamed "person in rap," whom he called "the devil"—a theory also maintained by Eazy's son Yung Eazy.
