The 1972 blaxploitation crime drama Super Fly is getting a remake and Future is set to produce the upcoming film.

According to a report from Deadline, Future, along with Joel Silver, will serve as producers, while Steven R. Shore, the son of the original movie's producer, will serve as an executive producer.

Along with producer duties, Future will also curate the film's soundtrack. The Atlanta rapper has big shoes to fill, as the original film's soundtrack was composed by the legendary Curtis Mayfield and became one of the few soundtracks to ever outgross its accompanying movie.

Future also won't be the only rapper tied to Superfly. 21 Savage is reportedly in talks to join the film, although his role is not yet known.

Discussing the upcoming film, director Director X praised Future, revealing the rapper is drawing inspiration from the original film's soundtrack. "I’m also excited to be working with Future, both on the music and as a producer of the film—the original soundtrack is legendary, and that’s an inspiration for the artists that Future is working with to bring a singular modern musical vision to the film," the director said.

While Superfly doesn't have a release date yet, the film does have its lead actors, which include Trevor Jackson and Jason Mitchell. Lex Scott Davis, Andrea Londo, Jacob Ming-Trent and Omar Chapparo will also star in the upcoming movie.
