You can't be on Santa's naughty driving list, however, to get a gift. You have to be driving on the good list.

Some drivers in Shepherd, Michigan are learning that being pulled over by police doesn’t always mean you’re doing something wrong. Thanks to a secret Santa and Shepherd Police Chief Luke Sawyerofficers have been pulling over cars and giving them a little Christmas cash instead of a ticket.

Chief Sawyer says it all started last month when a community member paid him a visit and gave him a stack of money as he explained his plan. “He said ‘here’s my vision for this. Wouldn’t it be so awesome if you could just pull over cars and hand them some money and say hey Merry Christmas,’” Sawyer explains.

And that’s just what they’ve been doing. The drivers have no idea why they’re being stopped, not sure what they did wrong behind the wheel, but their concern quickly turns to excitement as they find out they’re actually on the nice list, not the naughty one.

“It’s not life changing money,” Sawyer told WJRT TV 12, “but you never know when it’s just a little something that gets a person over the hump of Christmas.”
