Following this weekend's tragic massacre at at gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., Grand Rapids' Mayor Rosalynn Bliss has penned a letter to the mayor of Orlando and the city as a whole, extending the city's deepest condolences and support.

Bliss closed the letter by stating, “We stand behind the belief that there is not place in our society for hatred of any kind. May our condolences bring you comfort and ease the pain of this terrible tragedy."

Grand Rapids Pride Festival will be held this weekend in Downtown Grand Rapids with festivities happening Thursday through Sunday. Organizers of the event have assured the public that they will be taking every measure necessary to ensure that this year's event will be safe for all who attend.
