‘Hamilton’ Cast Call Out Mike Pence at Show, #BoycottHamilton Erupts on Twitter [VIDEO]
The cast of the Broadway musical Hamilton was treated to a special guest in the audience during Friday’s performance (Nov 18). Vice-President elect Mike Pence and his guests were greeted with boos by other attendees when he was escorted to his seat.
Furthermore, at the end of the show, during curtain call, Hamilton co-actor Brandon Victor Dixon addressed Pence while he was leaving and bend his ear about the fears many have of him and President-elect Donald Trump. Pence brings some real conservative views to the Oval Office, including being against abortion and same-sex marriage, as well as pro-immigration reform (aka "building the wall").
"I see you walking out but we have a message for you sir," he said. "We are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us."
Trump wasn't happy with the Hamilton cast addressing Pence about their concerns, so he jumped on Twitter calling the cast "very rude" and demanded for the cast to apologize. Hamilton's Brandon Victor responded to Trump by explaining to him that a "conversation is not harassment."
Nevertheless, pro-Trumpers went on Twitter and launched the #BoycottHamiltion campaign. The funny thing here is folks are asking people to not but tickets to Hamilton. But tickets to the show has been sold out for months. So what kind of boycott is this?
Meanwhile, Hamilton's former star Lin-Manuel Miranda saluted Brandon Victor for his style and grace under pressure.
