Happy Birthday, D’Angelo!
Soul superstar D'Angelo is 43 today (Feb. 11) and the smooth crooner is just significant today as he was when he debuted more than 20 years ago. The singer-songwriter was at the forefront of the neo-soul movement in the mid-to-late 90s, dropping two classic albums in Brown Sugar and 2000s Voodoo before dropping out of sight for the better part of a decade.
But the Virginia native slowly began to re-emerge with live shows and would eventually drop his critically-acclaimed third album, Black Messiah at the end of 2014. The project was met with widespread praise, and D'Angelo found himself once again amongst the artistic elite in popular music.
We've got a lot of love for D'Angelo, so we salute him on his birthday!
