If Michigan voters make weed legal in November, employers can still drug test you and not hire you for testing positive as well as fire you, if already employed, for violating workplace drug policies.

According to WZZM, the legal verbiage states: "This act does not require an employer to permit or accommodate conduct otherwise allowed by this act in any workplace or on the employer's property. This act does not prohibit an employer from disciplining an employee for violation of a workplace drug policy or for working while under the influence of marijuana. This act does not prevent an employer from refusing to hire, discharging, disciplining, or otherwise taking an adverse employment action against a person with respect to hire, tenure, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment because of that person's violation of a workplace drug policy or because that person was working while under the influence of marijuana."

If you are a federal employee or plan to be one, the federal government says there is zero tolerance and considers marijuana to be an illegal substance.

Driving while under the influence of marijuana will be treated like driving under the influence of alcohol. 5 counties in Michigan are already testing out the process.

Consumers Energy, Ford and Fiat Chrysler will continue to drug test all potential new employees no matter if the law to legalize marijuana passes and most all business's will follow suit.

Consumers Energy drug tests all of its employees, both those who work on utility lines and those in company headquarters and will continue to do so even if voters approve legalizing marijuana in Michigan, officials said.

So even if the marijuana legalization passes in Michigan come November, most of the previous laws and requirements of getting a job will still be the same.
