After more than 30 years in the game, LL Cool J has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He's the only rapper nominated among the 2018 potential inductees.

Since 1985, LL has been a mainstay in hip-hop, his legacy cemented by albums including RadioBigger and DefferWalking Like a Panther and Mama Said Knock You Out. Of course, his crossover endeavors have laid out a roadmap for other veteran rappers looking to diversify their portfolios while maintaining success.

Other artists nominated  this year include Bon Jovi, Kate Bush, The Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, Judas Priest, MC5, The Meters, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and The Zombies.

2Pac, N.W.A., The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Public Enemy are among the hip-hop artists who have been previously been inducted into the coveted Hall.

To be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of induction. The 2018 Nominees had to release their first official recording no later than 1992.
