Marvel is further extending their superhero franchise on Netflix with their new series, The Defenders. On Tuesday (April 4), a mysterious teaser was released featuring the four superheroes who have assembled to become The Defenders.

In the clip above, titled “Midland Circle Security Elevator B,” Mike Colter's Luke Cage, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Finn Jones's Iron Fist are cooped up in an elevator and appeared exhausted. Jones then jumps up and kills the security camera's feed at 08:18:20:17, which also reads when The Defende rs will premiere on Netflix (Aug. 18, 2017).

EW explained the premise behind the teaser. Apparently, each Defender has arrived separately at the offices of Midland Circle, which is a corrupt operation from the Daredevil series, and none of them expected to cross paths. But before they could properly meet each other, the four found themselves trapped and had to battle a group of enemies before reaching the elevator for safety (which explains why they are exhausted).

“Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York,” explains showrunner Marco Ramirez, who produced Daredevil's first season before co-showrunning the second. “We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s---, who are you?’”

You will be able to binge watch Marvel's The Defenders when it premieres on Netflix on Aug. 18.
