Last night (June 25), the 2017 BET Awards took place in Los Angeles, where they honored a slew of our favorite celebrities. The network also did a tribute to Prodigy of Mobb Deep, who suddenly passed away last week, but it was not met with praise from everyone in the hip-hop community. Master P was invited to the awards show, but decided to protest the network instead, as he feels they were showing fake love to the late rapper.

Posting a video to Instagram, the No Limit CEO can be heard going off on BET for honoring Prodigy, as he feels they never showed him any love when he was still alive.

"I'm at the BET Awards right now. I ain't even going in, bruh. This shit ain't even cool," Master P said. "All of a sudden they celebrate Prodigy. Prodigy, last week, couldn't even get in here. Couldn't get backstage. Couldn't get a pass. All of a sudden, when you die, you this big superstar. Why couldn't we give the man his flowers while he here?"

The veteran rapper continued to vent his frustrations with the network, calling their sudden dedication to Prodigy "embarrassing."

"Ain't that sad? [It's] sad. Forreal. I ain't with it. I ain't with none of it," he says in the clip below. "Forreal. That man couldn't get a show last week, couldn't get nothing. All of a sudden he the man. They changed their whole program to dedicate to this man. It's embarrassing. They probably don't even know who Mobb Deep is. Rest in peace homie, man. It's sad. They did the same thing with Prince and Whitney Houston. C'mon, man. Give the people they flowers while they still here."

In the caption for the video, Master P continued his rant, claiming he was originally going to attend the awards in order to support his daughter, but felt the need to speak out instead.

"The Truth Hurts…BET Would Have Never Changed Their Show For Prodigy If He Was Still Alive!! It was a great thing acknowledging and celebrating the life of Prodigy and all of his accomplishments," he wrote. "But It’s a shame that none of these artists are told how great they are while they’re alive. Why can’t they get their flowers and tokens of appreciation while they’re still living? I know the truth hurts. I just have one serious question… Was Prodigy or Mobb Deep on BET’s radar last week… were they invited to the red carpet event, offered guest passes or an invite to perform at the awards show in the last 10 years? I’m willing to bet the answer is NO. I came to support my daughter today on the BET Experience stage but I decided that my family and I will not participate in the red carpet or awards events this year. I love my people and I support them but we really need to do better by each other. We lost a very talented brother, Prodigy. I send my condolences to his family. Hopefully, one day we can start appreciating the talented sisters and brothers while they are still alive. I know that what I am saying may ruffle a few feathers but the truth needed to be heard."

Despite Master P's frustrations, some Twitter users shared their sympathy with the network for having to put together a last-minute tribute to Prodigy with short notice.
