The Eagles to be Introduced by Meek Mill Track at the Super Bowl

Meek Mill may be locked up, but his music is still playing a big role in Philadelphia. So much so, his song "Dreams and Nightmares" will introduce the Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl this Sunday when they take on the New England Patriots.

"If you're going to go with a Philly song, that's the one you're going with," Eagles defensive end, Brandon Graham told NFL.com of the song choice.

The Meek track isn't new to the team. Before last week's NFL Championship game against the Minnesota Vikings, it was played during a team meeting. It was also played right before and right after the Eagles beat the Vikings 38-7.

"It just gets us going," Eagles player, Derek Barnett, told NFL.com. "It gives us good energy. Just a little extra juice."

Meek Mill is currently in jail serving a two year sentence for violating the terms of his probation. The sentence sparked controversy and protests in its wake. In fact, a court clerk was fired earlier this week for passing the rapper a note asking for money.

Beyond his legal issues, Meek has continued to inspire his home city in other ways. Earlier this week, Colin Kaepernick announced that Meek had donated $10K to his Million Dollar Pledge campaign, which aims to give back to the community in a myriad of ways.

"Despite my brother @meekmill’s current circumstances, he continues to stay connected in the community of Philly," Kapernick wrote on Twitter. "He pledged to go #10for10 on my #MillionDollarPledge. We’re both donating $10k for a combined $20k to Youth Service Inc. Keep staying strong Meek, we love you brother!"
