Michael Jackson's career began in Motown and now the city of Detroit is naming a street after the King of Pop.

A section of Randolph Street in the Motor City's theater district will be renamed Michael Jackson Avenue during a June 15 ceremony on Detroit Music Weekend. "Four of Jackson's brothers, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon, are scheduled to perform during the festival. They also will receive a key to the city." Detroit Free Press reports Michael is not the first native son to be honored.

Michael Jackson Avenue is the latest in a recent flurry of Detroit-area musical street tributes, including Aretha Franklin Way, Stevie Wonder Avenue and Glenn Frey Drive. A campaign to christen a Bob Seger Boulevard in Ann Arbor was launched last week.

Detroit Music Weekend is June 14-17 and will feature a performance by remaining Jacksons Marlon, Jackie, Germaine and Tito. Michigan's own Jeff Daniels will be there along with Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad. The festival is free.
