Samuel L. Jackson hasn’t appeared in the MCU since Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2015 — which wasn’t all that long ago in real-time, but with Marvel releasing two new superhero films every year, it feels like it’s been an eternity since the last time we saw Nick Fury on the big screen. That’s going to change relatively soon, as Jackson is set to appear in both Infinity War and its follow-up, and according to a new rumor, he may also have a part in another highly-anticipated MCU film.

The rumor originates over at Omega Underground, which claims that Jackson will reunite with his Kong: Skull Island co-star Brie Larson for Captain Marvel. The site also claims that Larson’s big MCU solo debut will begin production next January in Atlanta, which might not be entirely off, as Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently said that they’d begin filming Captain Marvel in February 2018, should everything stay on schedule.

Marvel has yet to address the rumor of Nick Fury’s involvement in Captain Marvel (and likely won’t for quite some time), though Jackson himself suggested the possibility back in February. While speaking with We Got This Covered, Jackson confirmed that Fury will not appear in Black Panther, though he might be a part of Larson’s solo film.

It’s definitely not the craziest idea, especially since Jackson and Larson have already established a solid working relationship; in addition to appearing together in Kong: Skull Island, Jackson is co-starring in Larson’s directorial debut, Unicorn Store, which is expected to arrive sometime this year.

Directing duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) are set to helm Captain Marvel from a script by Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy). The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2019, but we’ll get to see Larson’s Marvel-ous superhero in action sooner than that, when Avengers: Infinity War arrives on May 4, 2018.
