RZA Says Kanye West’s Meeting With Donald Trump Can Be a Positive Step

There seems to be two opinions on the matter of Kanye West meeting with Donald Trump earlier in the week, one that maintains that Trump and his campaign rhetoric should not be endorsed, and another that suggests that building bridges is the best course of action with the new President-elect. Speaking with TMZ, RZA seems to put himself in the second camp, saying that if Kanye is speaking on behalf of his community than it's a positive step.

"I haven’t talked to him in a long time so I can’t really speak on where his head is at. I really can’t even comment on that one," RZA starts off saying. He had worked with Kanye years back on songs like "So Appalled" off 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. "Trump is the president and we’re gonna have to talk with him, deal with him, build with him, and make sure that some of the things he’s dealing with are reflected in our community."

Others in hip-hop have as well offered comment on the meeting. Common said yesterday, "That’s my family. So, he gonna do what he chooses to do… That’s my guy, that’s my homie. That’s gon’ always be my brother." John Legend on the other hand called the meeting a publicity stunt, saying, "I’m pretty disappointed with Kanye that he says he would have voted for Trump. I think Trump has been corrosive, his message has been corrosive to the country. I think the things he’s promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people, and for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing.” Both Com and John were at one point signed to Kanye's G.O.O.D. Music.
