T.I. is giving Chris Brown the benefit of the doubt after the singer denied rape allegations that were made in Paris this past Monday (Jan. 21). He said as much in an impromptu interview TMZ published this morning (Jan. 23).

Speaking on the matter, T.I. told the celebrity news site that he believed Brown's claims of innocence until evidence gives him a reason not to.

"It's just peculiar," T.I. said as he was leaving LAX in Los Angeles. "I believe him. I mean I know him personally and I don't know her. There haven't been any facts to... overwhelming facts to show me that what he's saying is not true so I'm going to believe him. The climate of society right now is empowering victims, which is phenomenal. For women to have a voice to speak out against perpetrators, that's phenomenal, but y'all gotta also realize that it's also arming people who have malicious intent and vindictive natures to go after people undeservedly. Like there's a flip side."

T.I.'s new interview comes after he'd already established his support for Brown on social media. Joyner Lucas has also stepped forward to defend Brown, going as far as to suggest that TV networks might be paying people to accuse Brown of different offenses so they can make a documentary based on the controversy.

After he was arrested in Paris, Brown was released from police custody without any charges leveled against him. Once he was a free man, Brown jumped onto his Instagram page and denied the rape allegations. The Grammy-winning artist posted an image with the words “This Bitch Is Lyin!” overlaid onto a photo.

“I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR…… THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP! NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!! FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISPRESPECTFUL[sic] AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!" Brown exclaimed in the caption.
