The Weeknd has been in a very charitable mood as of late, and we are not mad at him for it. The Grammy-winning crooner reportedly donated $250,000 to the Black Lives Matter Network, according to sources who told The FADER.

The charitable gift follows the singer’s recent donation of $50,000 to the University of Toronto to help fund a new Ethiopic Studies program.

The Weeknd, whose parents emigrated from Ethiopia, “immediately” answered the call from the Bikila Awards organization to assist in backing the program.

“He’s our community’s hero,” said Tessema Mulegata, president of the Bikila Award organization, which spearheaded the campaign. “We’re really surprised. We’re grateful for what he’s done."

“This was a unique opportunity for the community to partner with this prestigious institution, the University of Toronto, and he responded to our call," he added.

As for the Black Lives Matter Network, the organization is building chapters across the globe "to help build connections between Black people and our allies to fight anti-Black racism and to spark dialogue among Black people." There is a branch in The Weeknd's hometown of Toronto.

Salute to The Weekend for giving back to his community and helping out two important intuitions.
