The Weeknd Gets Mistaken for an Imposter in ‘SNL’ Promo
The Weeknd's new hairstyle has people mistaking him for an imposter. Margot Robbie and Kenan Thompson were caught off guard by the singer's lack of dreadlocks in a new promo for Saturday Night Live.
Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie will be hosting this Saturday's (Oct. 1) edition of SNL with The Weeknd serving as the musical guest. The singer is expected to perform his new single "Starboy" featuring Daft Punk.
The Weeknd's "Starboy" is the title track and lead single of his new album, which is scheduled to be released on Nov. 25. The "I Can't Feel My Face" artist recently spoke about the influences on his new LP in an interview with VMAN magazine.
"There are new inspirations on this album… The production feels aggressive but still sexy,” The Weeknd said. “The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince, and DeBarge play roles. We wrote it all in Los Angeles. I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done. It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced.”
In addition to the release of the much anticipated Starboy LP, The Weeknd is also working on his very own shoe and clothing line. Yesterday (Sept. 29), the Toronto native announced a partnership with Puma to release his own PumaXO shoe and clothing line. Both of The Weeknd's fashion ventures are due out in 2017.
