The Weeknd has a new album on the way, and it has a name. The Canadian crooner's new project is called STARBOY, and while there is no release date yet, you can peep the cover art above.

The most striking aspect of the artwork is The Weeknd's fresh haircut. The singer has always been known (well, besides for his singing ability) for his trademark dreads. It'll be interesting to read about Abel's decision to cut his locks in potential upcoming interviews about the new album.

The 26-year-old Toronto native took to Twitter today (Sept. 21) to share the news. Around noon EST, he typed, "NEW ALBUM COVER / TITLE shot by NABIL #STARBOY." The "Often" singer recently appeared on Travis Scott's new album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, appearing on the final cut, "Wonderful." XXL will keep you posted as more information about STARBOY emerges over the coming days, weeks and months.

Tesfaye spoke about the details of his forthcoming album in a recent profile for VMAN Magazine. The XO singer says, “There are new inspirations on this album... The production feels aggressive but still sexy. The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince, and DeBarge play roles. We wrote it all in Los Angeles. I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done. It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced.”

The Weeknd is coming off the biggest project of his career to date, Beauty Behind the Madness, which contained smash hits including "The Hills" and "Cant Feel My Face."
