As a part of the Red Cross' Home Fire Campaign, they will be installing FREE smoke detectors in people's homes across the country, including West Michigan.

According to the Red Cross, each day seven people die in a home fire so putting free smoke alarms in homes is a way to help save lives. Between now and May 13th, the Red Cross, along the help with volunteers and fire departments, they will be installing alarms in 100 cities. In addition, they will replace batteries in already existing alarms and prove information on fire prevention and safety.

WZZM has it listed that the Red Cross will be in West Michigan the following days:

  • Fri, May 4:  9a - 5p (Greater Grand Rapids)
  • Sat, May 5:  9a - 5p (Muskegon)
  • Fri, May 11: 9a - 5p (Greater Grand Rapids)
