Summer is construction season on Michigan roads and this year we have some pretty annoying projects in the works.  One such project is the Westbound I-196 off-ramp to Bryon Rd. (Exit 55) closure.

The construction wasn't supposed to start today, but it did anyway. And it caused some pretty bad delays this morning.  Commuters were stuck in a 20-minute delay that lasted 5 miles starting at 16th St. (Exit 52).

As people start to find better routes, traffic will begin to move quickly again, but for the next few weeks, I would try to avoid that stretch of the freeway if you can.

Below is a map of the ramp closure (Red), the delay (Yellow), and the detour (Orange).
