Wiz Khalifa Settles Legal Dispute With Former Manager Benjy Grinberg
Wiz Khalifa is cleaning the slate of any legal wranglings for 2017. The Taylor Gang leader recently settle his lawsuit against his former manager, Benjy Grinberg, and his record label, Rostrum Records.
Last year, Wizzy sued Grinberg alleging that he pressured him into signing a bad “360 Billboard.” Although 360 deals are commonplace in the music industry, they are not usually not in the best interest of an artist. In fact, over the past decade, they have proven to be borderline unethical for an artist.
Grinberg filed a countersuit seeking "millions of dollars in unpaid" royalties and earnings from touring and merchandising. He also denied Wiz’s claims and alleges in his suit that he has done nothing but support the Pittsburgh rhymer and his endeavors.
On Friday (Jan. 7), a rep for both parties issued a statement to Billboard saying, "all disputes" have been resolved following a joint settlement agreement. Financial details regarding the settlement were disclosed. The statement reads:
“Wiz Khalifa and Rostrum Records Founder Benjy Grinberg announced today that all disputes between the two parties have been resolved following a joint settlement agreement. This agreement includes the dismissal of lawsuits that each party had previously filed against each other earlier this year. Both parties are pleased with the outcome and look forward to putting this matter behind them.”
This is certainly great news and now Wiz Khalifa can get back to making dope music.
