Earlier this week, rumors swirled that Samuel L. Jackson would reprise his role as Nick Fury for Captain Marvel. The former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been living in hiding ever since his last appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but he’s set to make a comeback in both installments of Infinity War. And today, we’ve learned that he’ll also show up to recruit Captain Marvel into the fold.

Deadline has confirmed that Nick Fury will be back for Brie Larson’s superhero solo outing, which is scheduled for a 2019 release. There’s a chance that his role will probably be pretty minor, considering he no longer has every government agent at his beck and call, but it’ll be good to see all the Avengers family back together again. And Jackson always adds a certain IDGAF je ne sais quoi to every scene he’s in.

Captain Marvel, a.k.a. Carol Danvers, is a hot-shot Air Force Pilot who develops superpowers during a series of kidnappings that end up in her being shoved into a Kree machine that turns imagination into reality and gave her superhuman Kree abilities. (We’ve seen the Kree before in the first Guardians of the Galaxy.)

Captain Marvel will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson) and will be Disney/Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie of the MCU era.
