The Breakaway Music Festival is going on in Belknap Park in Grand Rapids this weekend, and it will feature one of the youngest DJs in the nation, DJ Dill Pickles, an 11 year old kid from Mt. Pleasant.

The Breakaway Fest is one of the biggest electronic dance festivals in the country, and to be able to spin dance music there is quite an honor.

Mt. Pleasant's own Dylan Hunter, aka DJ Dill Pickles will be spinning this weekend before headliners Odesza and DJ Khalid, and he's just 11 years old.

The Middle School student at Sacred Heart Academy, Hunter got interested in DJing by visiting his Dad, John's bar, the Wayside. The equipment and the ability for DJs to capture the crowd's attention captivated him, so he started messing around ono the 'wheels of steel' at an early age.

In addition to keeping the crowd rocking with his mixes, Dylan has been known to step out in front of his equipment and show off his hip hop dance skills as well.

“He’s low-key and a little shy, but he turns it on at his shows” his father recently told the CM Life. “I think a lot of people at his shows might be the same way. He brings out that energy in them.”

Check out this video he posted of him performing at Lansing's Common Ground Fest earlier this summer.

And here's a sad video of him talking about his girlfriend dumping him. Ah, the Middle School pain is real.
