2021 Venetian Festival Will Happen In Saugatuck
The Venetian Festival was originally canceled for this year thanks to COVID-19, but thanks to vaccinations, the festival is back for 2021.
Like many other events that have been postponed or canceled, thanks to people getting vaccinations, it has made it so some events could return this year but maybe not as grand as originally planned.
According to FOX 17, the Saugatuck City Council did approve plans for a smaller version of the Venetian Festival this week. The event will happen July 30th and 31st.
It takes a lot of planning to make a festival happen so in order to keep the Venetian Festival alive this year, it made more sense to scale back the event and then next year get it back to its normal size.
The good news is there still will be a beer tent and a concert featuring Starfarm that will happen the first night of the festival at Coghlin Park. Plus there will be a dinghy poker run for you boaters that should be a lot of fun.
The festival will kick off at 6 p.m. There is a $10 per person cover charge and you will be able to purchase food and drinks.
Because the city is scaling back the festival this year and because there is not a lot of time between now and the end of July, some of the usual events will not happen this year. There will be no Fireworks Display or the popular Lighted Boat Parade but those will return next year when they have enough time to plan and fund the event.
The Cow Hill Yacht Club are the ones behind this fundraiser which happens to be their largest for the year. The Venetian Festival raises money so the Cow Hill Yacht Club can use the proceeds to help local families and individuals who are in need.
