The organizers of the Grand Rapids Comic-Con announced on Facebook that they

"are pleased to announce that the Grand Rapids Comic-Con will be hosting the largest gathering ever done at a con for "X-Men: The Animated Series." Creators, writer, producers, voice actors -- a very complete line-up."

You definitely read that right!

There will be a full line-up of people that are a part of "X-Men: The Animated Series," including voice actors.

They also announced that they will continue to release one person who will be at this gathering each day starting now for over a week!

Besides the iconic "X-Men" moment, the organizers also announced that Arthur Suydam will also be at the Grand Rapids Comic-Con. If the name does not sound familiar, his work will speak volumes. Suydam is a comic book who has worked on Marvel Zombies, The Walking Dead, Dceased, and so many others.

You are probably overwhelmed right now with such amazing announcements, especially first-timers (like me 😉).

Here are a few things you should know before going to Grand Rapids Comic-Con.

1. Start saving money NOW

Besides the obvious costs of hotels, gas, food, transportation, etc., you want to have money budgeted for purchases at the actual convention. There are plenty of cosplay and comic-related vendors that will be at the Comic-Con. You do not want to miss out on the goodies that will be there.

2. Start planning your iconic costume

It is never too early to start planning your costume for a con. You can always buy a costume at any costume or Halloween store. However, if you are planning to take on the humongous task of creating your own costume, it is better to start now than later.

3. Find all items that you want to be signed by the featured guests

While this is not a requirement, you will be extremely disappointed if you left the one item that you want to be signed by your favorite artist. There will be plenty of items at the actual convention that the guests are able to sign. However, if you have a specific thing, make sure to have it in a safe and accessible place so you are not scrambling at the last minute.

4. Download the Grand Rapids Comic-Con app

This one is definitely my number one rule when I go to any type of convention. When I went to Katsucon in Washington, D.C., the app for the anime convention saved my life in more ways than one. Last-minute changes and surprises are randomly announced throughout the convention. You never miss out on any important panels if you have the app downloaded and set up reminders.

5. Comfortable shoes are a must

Yes, comfortable shoes are the most important part. Your costume will be epic. However, remember you will be running around through different panels and events all day. So make sure your shoes are comfy but still cute with your particular costume.

Awesome Cosplay from the 2022 Motor City Comic Con

I have never been to a comic con before, but I knew going into it that many people choose to wear very elaborate and detailed costumes and garb of their favorite pop culture icons. Whether it was from a Disney movie, an epic comic book, a live-play Dungeons and Dragons show, or somewhere in between, there were plenty of people who put their talent to use to create some awe-inspiring cosplay looks. Check out some of the awesome cosplay in the gallery below, and get a sneak peek at what it's like to attend a comic con.
