Jordan Peele’s Next Social Thriller Movie Gets a Spring 2019 Release
Jordan Peele astounded audiences and studios alike with his directorial debut Get Out, and, unsurprisingly, has gotten himself another, way bigger deal with Universal Pictures. His next film has no title and no plot (that we know of) yet, but it does finally have a release date — and we won’t have to wait that long: Universal announced that Peele’s next movie will hit theaters March 15, 2019.

Vin Diesel Says ‘The Fate of the Furious’ Is Going to Launch a New Trilogy
With the eighth on the way and two more planned sequels after that, it seems like the Fast & Furious franchise will never end. And you know what, if Vin Diesel, The Rock, and Jason Statham want to keep making movies where the good guys win by driving quickly and angrily, more power to them! Diesel himself revealed during CinemaCon on Wednesday, after an emotional tribute to the late Paul Walker, that The Fate of the Furious is the first in a new trilogy of films.

Rumor: Ice Cube Might Voice Miles Morales’ Dad in Animated Spider-Man Movie
The new, non-MCU Spider-Man movie will be animated and will not focus on Peter Parker at all — rather, it’s Miles Morales’ turn in the spotlight, and the Internet has been buzzing about this since it was announced. There was a hashtag a while back that campaigned for Donald Glover to audition to voice Miles, and while he seems to have his hands full with a couple other franchises, we might know of another star lending his voice to a character. According to a new rumor, Ice Cube might voice Miles’ father.

Get Ready for a New ‘Purge’ Movie Coming Summer 2018
Even though the story was more or less wrapped up at the end of The Purge: Election Year, we should probably get used to these movies, much like the Purge itself, happening about once a year. James DeMonaco, creator of the franchise and director of all three, will be back writing the screenplay and working closely with Universal to find a director for the fourth.

Mel Gibson Might Direct the ‘Suicide Squad’ Sequel
The DC Extended Universe may have lost Ben Affleck as a director (and maybe as a star too), but Warner Bros. is looking to gain another big name for its roster. The studio is currently courting Mel Gibson to helm the Suicide Squad sequel, which is definitely not a sentence anyone expected to write today.

‘Scarface’ Reboot Gains Coen Brothers as Script Doctors, Peter Berg and David Mackenzie on Director Shortlist
There is a whole lot going on with Universal’s Scarface reboot. Today brought a few big announcements: first off, Joel and Ethan Coen, who are script doctors in their own right, have been tapped to rework the screenplay. The two have previously polished the scripts of Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies. But we’re not done yet. While Antoine Fuqua exited the project to focus on the Equalizer sequel, the film is close to landing a new director, and Peter Berg and Hell or High Water’s David Mackenzie are frontrunners.

Common Is Still Down for ‘Green Lantern Corps,’ Just So Everyone Knows
In the alternate universe where politics is good and the books spell it “Berenstein” instead of “Berenstain,” a George Miller-directed Justice League movie exists and is beloved by all. Miller had plans to direct the superhero team-up about a decade ago and had a cast all lined up — which included Common as Green Lantern’s fellow Lantern John Stewart and Armie Hammer as Batman — but then the writers’ strike happened and Miller turned his sights to resurrecting Mad Max instead. Now that a Green Lantern Corps movie is happening and Warner Bros. is casting around for its two emerald-clad leads, Common just wants everyone to know that he’d still be down if anyone asked.

Watch the First Three Minutes of ‘Rings’ Right Now, We Dare You
The Ring sequel no one was asking for is about to hit theaters, and if watching a movie about people dying because they watched a movie appeals to you, you probably want to check out the full first scene Paramount released today. It features a doomed plane, some doomed people, and a girl crawling out of a — well, you know the rest.

Marvel Co-President Reveals a New ‘Black Panther’ Logo
A lot goes into the design of a logo, especially the design of a logo for a huge superhero blockbuster. Logo and title reveals for upcoming Marvel and Lucasfilm properties and the like are big news, mostly because it’s just fun to use whatever fonts the studio chose to speculate about what that says for the movie. Today, Marvel’s co-president Louis D’Esposito tweeted a photo of one of the chairs on the set of Black Panther, revealing a logo that’s very different from the one we’ve become accustomed to.

Sterling K. Brown Eyed to Join Shane Black’s ‘The Predator’
The man is unstoppable. After his starring turns in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson and This Is Us, Sterling K. Brown was cast in Marvel’s Black Panther as an entirely new character. Now, he’s currently in talks to join another franchise: Shane Black’s The Predator.
