Bad Weather Was The Big Winner At High School Football Openers
A windy storm forced the postponement and cancellation of several games, many of which will be made up this afternoon.
The annual Thursday night opening for high school football was overshadowed by a huge storm which brought delays and postponements to area games.
Two big showdowns will wrap up this afternoon:
East Grand Rapids is tied with Zeeland West 14-14, and they'll restart that game in the third quarter this afternoon starting at 4pm at East.
Over at Christian High, the Eagles of Grand Rapids Christian will resume their game with Rockford, also at 1pm with Rockford leading at half time 17-0.
Wyoming will pick up its game at Holland at 4pm.
Comstock Park trails Northview 13-2 and will pick it up at 3:40pm today.
Hudsonville was defeating Grand Ledge 27-13, and they'll resume that game in the 3rd quarter at 6pm tonight.
Wyoming Lee was ahead of Calvin Christian when the storm hit, 24-6, they'll also resume at 6pm.
Byron Center and Forest Hills Northern never got started and will kick it off at noon today at Northern.
Caledonia will travel to Holt tonight for a 6pm start.
Allendale will pick up its game at Unity Christian at 7pm, Unity is ahead 16-12 in the the third.
East Kentwood will be at Mona Shores at 8pm.
Catholic Central hosts River Rouge at 7pm.
A few teams did manage to wait out the lightning and get their games in, and here are the finals:
