Childish Gambino has another platinum single on his hands with "Redbone."

The RIAA announced that the single, which at points channels Bootsy Collins, Prince, and Sly & the Family Stone, hit one million sales on May 1. It also brought massive attention to the singer's Awaken, My Love! album. It also probably didn't hurt that the song was prominently featured in the opening sequence of Jordan Peele's blockbuster hit, Get Out.

"First of all, I love the 'Stay Woke' line," Peele explained during an interview with HipHopDX. "I wanted to make sure that this movie satisfied the black horror movie audience's need for characters to be smart and do things that intelligent observant people would do."

"Redbone" is Gambino's third platinum single— his first two were "Heartbeat" off his Camp album and "V. 3005," off his sophomore release Because the Internet.
