Comedian Tommy Davidson Coming to Grand Rapids This Fall
Heads up "In Living Color" fans - one of the stars of the 90s sketch comedy show is coming to Grand Rapids this October!
Comedian Tommy Davidson to Perform in Grand Rapids
Comedian, actor, writer, and producer Tommy Davidson is set to perform Friday, October 14th at Grand Rapids Comedy Club. The club operates from the Golden Age at Creston Brewery, an event space above the brew pub.
General admission tickets are $25 and VIP tickets $35. They can be purchased here.
Career of Tommy Davidson
According to his bio, Davidson started his career doing standup in Washington DC. It wasn't long before he gained a following and started opening up for the likes of Patti LaBelle, Kenny G, and Luther Vandross. He made his way to Hollywood where he met Robert Towsend. Townsend was behind the HBO specials "Partners in Crime", in which Davidson nabbed a starring role. The show connected Davidson with Keenan Ivory Wayans - who Davidson would work alongside, along with Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, and David Alan Grier on "In Living Color".
Davidson became know for his spot-on impressions, specifically Sammy Davis Jr.
Davidson has appeared in stand up specials and different TV shows throughout the years, including lending his voice to the Disney animated show "The Proud Family".
His movies include Strictly Business, Woo, Bamboozled, and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.
Davidson released his book, "Living In Color: What's Funny About Me" in 2020.
