Construction Nearly Completed on New Grand Rapids Taco Joint
A new taco restaurant is opening in Grand Rapids' Midtown neighborhood soon - and it's got a great name.
"Taco Borracho" (Drunk Taco) is coming to soon to 755 Michigan St.
The City of Grand Rapids Development Center shared to Facebook that construction is wrapping up at the new restaurant on the corner of Michigan St. and Eastern Ave.
While a grand opening date for Taco Borracho has yet to be revealed, you can follow them on Instagram for updates.
Taking a look at Taco Borracho's Instagram posts, it appears the project started around last March.
The location was once home to Thunder Mountain Car and Dog wash, and prior to that (at least according to Google Street View) a Clark gas station back in the mid 2000s. Since then, a lot has changed on the Michigan St. corridor.
Long known as the "Medical Mile", Michigan St. has grown to include numerous new businesses, joining longer-established ones like Bob's Bar, Birch Lodge, Duke's, Logan's Alley, and Mr. Pizza. In the past five years, 7 Monks Taproom, Friesan Gastro Pub, Kaffeine Coffee, Hairtology Salon, Ginza Sushi & Ramen Bar, and a Gordon Food Service grocery store have all opened in the area. There's also been a lot of new housing development.
Given Taco Borracho's proximity to Michigan Street bars (and its name!) I wonder if it will have a late night menu for the after-bar crowd?
We'll keep you posted on the new restaurant's hours and menu!
