It's been a rough week for weather in West Michigan, with many without power following storms.

Fox 17 reports that Consumers Energy is looking to help folks cool down with free ice cream on Saturday in Lowell.

You can get a free ice cream cone at the Red Barn Market on Alden Nash Avenue in Lowell between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Aug. 14.

Consumers also offered free ice cream on Friday, August 13 at Frosty Boy in Cascade.

The energy service provider will also pay for the first 2,500 visitors to Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek Friday and Saturday.

Consumers tells Fox 17 this is there way of saying thank you to residents for their patience while crews work to restore power. They add that the storms this week caused one of the largest outages in Consumers Energy's history. As of Wednesday morning approximately 177,000 across the state were without power.

Consumers Energy shared the below warning on Wednesday,

Strong overnight storms have caused widespread power outages across the state. Additional crews will continue to be added to those already deployed as we restore power safely and as quickly as possible. Restoration estimates may change as local damage continues be assessed throughout the day. Please prepare for hot and humid weather condition today, and watch local weather forecasts for additional storms that are anticipated to develop this evening.

As of Friday afternoon about 107,000 customers without power, Fox 17 reported.
