Popular Detroit Sports Social Media Personality Has Died
UPDATE (3/6/25): We're sad to report that beloved Michigan social media figure Andy Isaac has passed away.
The news of Andy's passing was posted on his X account on Thursday, March 6.
ORIGINAL STORY (2/21/25): The Detroit and Michigan sports world is rallying around Andy Isaac, a beloved social media figure.
Isaac announced Tuesday that he is stepping away from the online community as he enters hospice care.
Known for his quick wit, and unwavering support of Detroit teams, Isaac has been a fixture in the Michigan sports scene for over a decade.
Isaac, who has been battling Hodgkin's lymphoma since 2006, shared the heartbreaking news on his X (formally Twitter) account @WorldofIsaac.
In his emotional message to Detroit, he wrote,
"Having cancer since 2006 has finally taken its toll on me. It has stripped me of my quality of life. I have decided on hospice care."
For years, Isaac has been more than just an average Detroit sports fan - he has been the voice for hope, humor, and community. Whether it was celebrating a Detroit Lions victory, or encouraging people to share something good from their week, his presence made an impact far beyond sports.
Detroit's four major teams - the Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and Detroit Pistons - all responded with messages of love and appreciation for Isaac, as did thousands of fans who have followed him over the years.
As Detroit sports fans process this difficult news, one thing is clear - Andy Isaac's legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and unbreakable Detroit pride!
His final message summed it up perfectly: "Be kind to each other. I love you all. Truly, I do."
Detroit (and all of Michigan) loves you back, Andy.
