Did you know Chlöe’s new cover on Spotify is by this Grand Rapids legend?
Did you know a Grand Rapids R&B legend's lyrics on Chlöe Bailey's latest single?
Chlöe started off this hot girl summer with a steamy track, "Surprise."
This past week, Chlöe released a cover of "Freak Like Me" by Adina Howard alongside an acoustic version of "Surprise": for a Spotify Singles campaign.
This announcement and single releases come after Chlöe performed a medley of "Surprise," Adina's "Freak Like Me," "Have Mercy," and "Treat Me."
Born on November 14th, 1973, Adina Marie Howard-Walker, or Adina Howard was born and raised in Grand Rapids by her mother and her three younger sisters.
Adina credits one of her early musical role models as Madonna, who is also a fellow Michigan native.
Although Adina eventually moved to Phoenix, Arizona with her family, her roots are tried and true to the Grand Rapids area.
The R&B icon released her debut single, "Freak Like Me," in January of 1995 in conjunction with her debut album, Do You Wanna Ride?
"I want a freak in the morning / A freak in the evening, just like me / I need a roughneck - / That can satisfy me, just for me / If you are that kind of man / Cause I'm that kind of girl / I've got a freaky secret, everybody sing / Cause we don't give a d- about a thing."
The single peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
With its release back in the late '90s, Chlöe has added her own flavor to the well-known track in the best ways possible.
