Eminem Is the One Rapper DJ Khaled Hasn’t Been Able to Get a Feature From
Over the course of his storied career, it feels like DJ Khaled's collabed with every rapper under the sun. But that's not quite the case.
In a new interview with Yahoo's Katie Couric, Khaled, whose album Grateful includes features from the likes of Drake, Rihanna, Bryson Tiller, Chance The Rapper and many more, reveals one rapper he hasn't been able to secure a verse from yet. It's a pretty big one.
“I never got a chance to work with Eminem. … I have tried before, but I’m gonna try again,” explains Khaled, who also wants to work with Em's mentor Dr. Dre again one day. “But this time when I try again, I’m gonna make sure I have the right record. I don’t think he’s telling me no. I think I just gotta come with the right presentation.”
Presentation figures heavily in Khaled's approach to crafting mega-bangers. For the DJ, who's seen his fame shoot to new levels over the last year or so, the right single is a perfect constellation of that connections and positive vibes. In the case of Justin Bieber—who sings the hook on Khaled's hit single, "I'm the One"—it also took a game of ground hockey.
In another recent interview, Khaled recalled a time he ventured out to Bieber's crib to discuss the making of a new song, which would ultimately become the Chance, Lil Wayne and Quavo-assisted "I'm the One." Bieber was digging the instrumental for the track and obviously the song ended up getting made, but Khaled had to play hockey with the talented singer before he could leave the grounds.
