The removal of the aluminum wrap from the building that houses our studios in downtown Grand Rapids has revealed some more beautiful old school signs.

Check out the colors on the top sign.

As big of a pain in the butt the transition process as been to those of us who work in the former Huntington Bank building between Monroe and Ottawa downtown, it is a glorious thing to see these old structures return to their former glory.

I'm not sure yet if the plan is to restore the painted mural-signs that grace the side of the building, but it is wonderful to see a glimpse of GR's past, if only for a few months.

The Turnwall Palma company still existed at Coldbrook near Monroe as late as 1981. Records show they changed their name to Integra Printing and are now located on Turner Ave.

Hughes Engraving and Harrison Wholesale Company both seemed to have disappeared, as I could find no trace of either in a Google search.

If you have recollections of some these old businesses that are being revealed as the buildings are restored, please let us know either in the comments or on our Facebook page.
