MiBiz reports that HopCat will no longer be brewing their own beers at the Ionia St location.

Barfly Ventures who owns HopCat decided to stop brewing beer and start focusing on featuring local brews. The Downtown location of the chain was the only location that had a brewery.

Barfly also owns Grand Rapids Brewing Company so they’re not completely out of the beer business.

Back at HopCat, according to MiBiz, they’re going to use the brewing space for more seating, including space where they can hold private dinners and events.  The downtown location of HopCat has been going through a number of renovations including a kitchen upgrade and seating change earlier this summer.

MiBiz says all the renovation projects should be completed by September.
