If you have ever been paintballing before, you know that it doesn't feel good to be shot. That's why a new TikTok trend is very worrisome, especially since it's hitting the West Side of Grand Rapids.

Over the last year there have been several viral TikTok videos of people doing drive-by shootings with paintball guns and some people think the videos have caused a trend.

Over the last week there have been several reports of drive-by paintball shootings on the West Side of the city.  According to an article by Wood TV 8, Steve Garvelink was the latest victim and was shot while riding a bike as he "was turning onto Mt Mercy Drive near Bridge Street".

Garvelink was hit half a dozen times at close range with a paintball gun.  The paintballs left several marks on Garvelink, and he did fall off of his bike, but he was not seriously injured.  It could have been a lot worse if he was hit in the face, or if the fall from the bike caused further injury.

The paintball shooting involving Garvelink was the most recent report in Grand Rapids, but a few days prior there was a similar incident in Florida.

Police are still looking for the responsible party and only know that the shots were fired from a silver sedan.

If you have any information about the shooting, you can contact the Grand Rapids Police Department at 616-456-3400 or call the Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
