This week, Bay Area legend E-40 celebrates the 23rd anniversary of the release of his classic second album In a Major Way, which, coincidentally, share the same anniversary of 2Pac’s Me Against the World project.

In an interview with Ebro Darden on Beats 1, E-40 reflected on ‘Pac’s musical legacy and how he not only impacted the Bay Area music scene but the entire world.

"One thing about him, he was a major networker and he represented the world," he said. "He made a lot of music. He had an amazing voice [and] spoke from the heart."

Darden mentioned that 2Pac's love for black people came from his family lineage to the Black Panther Party and the Civil Rights Movement. E-40 agreed and said 'Pac's voice is what made him so important to hip-hop culture.

That's why the message [2Pac] had back then was so incredible," he said. "He spoke for the women. He spoke for the ghetto. You can never forget 'Pac."

Elsewhere in the interview, E-40 talked about his upcoming collaborative project with his partner-in-rhyme and cousin B-Legit. The album, titled Connected and Respected, is their ode to the Bay Area and their legendary rap family The Click (40, Suga-T and D-Shot).
