First the Plague, Now We Have to Worry About Murder Hornets
It's official. Nature is trying to kill us all. We just got used to a life of plague, now we have to worry about a new invasive species of hornet that has been seen in the Pacific Northwest. Hornets are jerks, anyway, but these members of the Vespa family are known for slaughtering our precious honey bees, thus giving them the name "Murder Hornets." Murder. Hornets. Thanks, 2020. You really know how to kick a gal when she's down.
According to an article from the Detroit Free Press, Chris Looney, an expert in the field of entomology from the Washington State Department of Agriculture doesn't think Murder Hornets will pose a risk to humans (other than decimating our already dwindling honey bee population), saying this particular type of Asian hornet probably isn't going to, quote "murder someone," despite it's terrifying moniker. He later added, "don’t panic," however he went on to describe their murder process by saying the hornets turn their prey into a "meatball" to feed to their young. So, I beg to differ, Looney. I will be panicking... tiny, little honey bee meatballs...
