Flu Levels Skyrocketing in Michigan
This week's flu report from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services shows a dramatic increase in reports of the flu across Michigan.
This week, multiple West Michigan schools closed due to illness or flu-like symptoms including: Glenn Public Schools in Allegan County, Hope Academy of West Michigan in Grand Rapids and Muskegon Public Schools.
Statewide flu levels are approaching the highest we've seen since the 2009-10 pandemic flu season.
The report tallies flu-like symptoms reported by participating doctors and hospitals across Michigan.
The top chart below shows the regional activity of flu-like symptoms across Michigan this year. The bottom chart shows how this year's statewide flu activity compares to four recent flu seasons.
