According to Grand Rapids Business Journal, Root Functional Medicine, a functional food-as-medicine service on Wealthy Street, is expanding to include a commercial kitchen and café, at 1001 Lake Drive SE in, in the former Marie Catrib’s.

The new location, called Root Farmacy, is scheduled to open Nov. 18, 2020.

Dr. Erica Armstrong, founder and CEO of Root Functional Medicine, tells GRBJ,

“What makes our meal service unique is that it is truly built on food plans that we have proven to work for our one-on-one clients, and the meals can even be combined with clinical programs. This is something that no other meal service company is doing."

The team of doctors and dieticians create food plans with the goals of reducing clients' inflammation, balancing hormones and blood sugar, and restoring gut health.

According to GRBJ:

Those Farmacy meals will now be prepared at the new space in a commercial kitchen that will be entirely gluten-free and also will accommodate one-on-one meetings with nutrition clients for hands-on meal preparation.

In addition to meal plans, the new location will also offer grab-and-go meals, food-as-medicine snacks, and coffee.

Root Functional Medicine will continue to operate its location at at 746 Wealthy St. SE.
