Previously, I shared about the Michigan man who swam across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin.

Now, we have another man who is doing something similar for the love of charity.

Michigan Man Set To Walk 2,000 Miles Across The US

Woody Ellis is on the move, and not just in an “I’ll stroll to the store” kind of way. This guy is walking everywhere—literally!

This Labor Day, Woody kicked off a 2,000-mile trek across the U.S., starting on the Mackinac Bridge.

His goal? Raising money for mental health causes while he’s at it. Because, you know, walking and doing good are his two favorite things.

Woody’s journey isn’t a sprint; it’s more of a casual, take-your-time kind of marathon. He’s planning to navigate through the Upper Peninsula (because who doesn’t love a good UP adventure?), then meander through the Midwest, take a southern detour, and eventually wander west.

His trip might last a year or two. Yes, that’s right, he’s on a gap year that doesn’t actually end. Maybe he’s found the secret to eternal youth—walking and chatting with strangers?

According to a Zoom interview with our media partners, Fox-17, Woody wants to "initially" raise $1,000 for six mental health organizations.

This is not the first time Woody Ellis has done the unthinkable. While completing a three-year solo trip, he climbed Mount Toubkal in Morocco.

In 2016, Woody was the ultimate train-hopper, spending 60 hours chugging from Chicago to British Columbia, and then hanging out on a wharf in Canada. Next, he learned to scuba dive and bounced around to Hawaii and Japan. From Asia to Europe, Woody’s been around the world and back—literally.

He’s the kind of guy who’s seen it all and still thinks the cost of living is outrageous.

Want to join Woody’s adventure? You can subscribe to his newsletter, support his charities, or snag a Woody Walks T-shirt. He’s also raffling off camping gear and LEGO sets (built by him, of course). Check out his Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for updates on his epic journey.
