Michigan has plenty of towns and cities throughout that are filled with life.

Sadly, there are a few that are far removed from their glory days.

Here are a few of Michigan's ghost towns. Find out if you have stumbled through them.

Echoes of the Past: Forgotten Michigan Ghost Towns

One of the ghost towns is Fayette. Founded in 1867, Fayette was once a hustling and bustling iron community.

At its prime, Fayette had more than 500 residents, but once the iron industry collapsed in the 1890s, the town was abandoned.

Today, if you head to Fayette, the Fayette Historic State Park still preserves the ruins, offering locals and visitors alike a glimpse into Michigan's industrial history and heritage.

If you travel further north, you may run into the town of Delaware, a once-prospering copper mining town.

Active in the 1800s, the Delaware Mine once attracted workers from all over the country. However, once the copper ran out, so did the people.

Now, only a few structures from the booming town remain. You can experience this forgotten town with the mine tours.

Another Michigan ghost town is Pere Cheney, once an incredible logging town in the 1800s.

Sadly, diseases like diphtheria and smallpox struck, and devastated the Pere Cheney population, and the town was ultimately abandoned.

Today, Pere Cheney Cemetery is all that remains of the once-great town. It has actually gained a reputation as one of Michigan's most haunted locations.

Whether you are a history buff or a paranormal fan, Michigan's forgotten ghost towns have an unforgettable journey into the past!
